The task is to climb the 3 highest peaks in the UK, Scotland – Ben Nevis (1,343m), England – Scafell Pike (978m) and Wales – Mount Snowdon (1,085m) in under 24 hours.

This is considered a great challenge and should test your limits irrespective of whether you are a keen hill walker or simply wanting to push yourself beyond your previous boundaries.  Book early – join us on pre season FREE build up walks, get to meet your guides.
As with any 24 hour challenge, elements of this walk will be completed in darkness over mountainous terrain with a mini bus sleep/slumber in between treks.

What it involves
The Nationals as they are known, are completed over three stages:

Stage 1: Ben Nevis
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Britain.

The route taken is the ‘Tourist Route’. It is straightforward, but rigorous by hill walking standards. Ben Nevis totals a little over nine miles of trekking up and down the mountain before heading to our next task in the Lake District.

Stage 2: Sca Fell Pike
Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain has breathtaking views, affording an excellent vantage point for its neighbouring fells as well as long-range sight of Snowdonia on a clear day.

Walkers will often start in complete darkness using head torches but will witness the breaking of dawn either walking up or down Scafell often leaving our walkers stunned by the majestic views.

This part of “The Nationals” can often be the most difficult for navigators which is why it makes sense to do this challenge with experienced and qualified walking group leaders – safety first.

Stage 3. Mount Snowdon
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and is our final mountain. Starting out at Pen-y-Pass car park.  We aim to get up and down as quickly and safely as possibly finishing within the 24 hours cut off time.  The mountain is very popular and as such during the season (May-Sept) during weekends, it can be somewhat busy.

We depart England from Leeds at 7am and aim to arrive in Scotland at the start of our adventure by 4pm latest on Friday 13th Sept and finish under 24 hours later having completed our challenge – we will then spend the night in Wales at a quality bunk-barn not far from Snowdon before returning home on Sunday morning.

Food for Sunday morning is included in the cost of the accommodation (£30) for early bird prices

The trek is lead by Mountain Leaders (x2) and the group will be no more than 12 in strength.

Key points to note:
This challenge has attracted many thousands over the years resulting in increased traffic, litter and incidents – needless to say we aim to deliver our event on a Friday and Saturday thereby avoiding traffic issues, we have a very disciplined approach to group management on the hills which is why we restrict numbers (for safety and positive experience reasons) and expect high standards of behaviour lead by our guides and adopted by our customers.  We respect the mountains, roads and the locals within the regions that we pass and aim to lead by example when conducting challenge events.

Completers will receive:

  • A certificate of achievement
  • T Shirt
  • Completers medal
  • A beer / glass of prosecco
