Yorkshire 3 Peaks
What is it?
A 24.5-mile trek over Pen y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (each one just over 2000ft high)
The route starts in Horton in Ribblesdale, ticking off the summits of Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and getting to the summit of Ingleborough then back to the start within 12 hours of commencing.
What time does the event start?
We start the event after the safety brief at 07:00am and aim to get everyone on the trail by 07:15.
Is the route signposted?
It is (in parts) signposted by the National Park Authority; however, it is important that all who take part in our open Y3P events understand that this is a self-directed but supported route. We provide support to those that need it by directing (through our route marshals who are located on the course) and written guided instructions (2020 new route) and vehicle support for those who are unable to continue for any reason.
You can collect a route map on the day along with written instructions, you will have access to the route as GPX files for satnav and or grid references which will be made available to all who sign up within your joining documentation.
Is it true that we need a hat and gloves alongside our other items?
Yes, it is sound advice to recommend carrying a hat and gloves, the wind can often reach 60mph in this region even on a fair day.
Are there first aid stations and refreshment points?
Yes – these are at Ribblehead 10 miles /Philpin Farm 17 miles. Whilst there are first aid stations we encourage all trekkers to carry mobile phones for safety reasons ensuring that we have your mobile registered with us and personal first aid equipment. All our marshals have first aid kit and the majority are outdoor first aid trained.
If I get in under 12 hours do I get a medal?
Everyone who finishes gets a medal and unless otherwise advised irrespective of the time.
What if I get in having taken 12:01 hours
You still get a medal… well done for finishing, return and get under 12 hours ; )
Will I be able to purchase a Y3P T-Shirt?
Yes, you can pre-purchase so it is waiting for you when you arrive.
Do you support a Yorkshire 3 Peaks related charity
Yes, KO will aim to make a donation at the end of the season to the Cave and Mountain Rescue who provide invaluable services to all cavers and trekkers in the region.

Do you have a code of conduct
Yes, we are keen to ensure anyone who takes part in an event with us understands it and agrees to it prior to starting. Our code of conduct will be in your joining instructions. The people who live in the region matter, our relationship with locals and the National Park Authority matters.
